Earthquake in Chile: TSF is on the ground since March 1st

TSF_Chile_2010-3March 4th, 2010 - On February 27th, within hours of the devastating earthquake in Chile, TSF deployed an emergency telecom team from its regional base in Managua. A second TSF emergency telecom team, drawn both from our Bangkok and France bases, will join this effort today.

TSF: 6 weeks in Haiti, 10,500 families reconnected

10,500 families (more than 60,000 people) could reach their relatives thanks to TSF services.

TSF sets up a SMS system against dengue fever in Managua

Due to this worrying situation, TSF launches a mobile health project, strenghtening the SILAIS' (crisis unit of the Health Ministry of Nicaragua) ICT and mobile communications capacities.

Earthquakes in Indonesia: TSF's support to relief workers

tsf_hco_pariaman_2_1024x768October 27th, 2009 - Reacting to the two earthquakes that hit Indonesia on September 30th and October 1st, TSF deployed a crew of specialists in emergency telecommunications to Padang. During 1 month, they provided vital ICT support to the entire humanitarian community.

 

 


Tsunami in Samoa: TSF supported humanitarian agencies

telephonie_lalumano_4October 19th, 2009 - On September 29th, a powerful underwater earthquake at 8.0 on the Richter scale in the Pacific off the Samoa islands region generated a tsunami and waves 6 metres high across Samoa Islands in the South Pacific. TSF supported the UNDAC teams (United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination), and the whole humanitarian community. The mission ended on October 9th.

Floods in Burkina Faso: TSF's monitoring

Sept. 8th, 2009 - After the heavy floods that affected Burkina Faso on September 1st, TSF conducted an assessment and stands to deploy.

With the United Nations coordinator in Ouagadougou, no major telecom issues were identified. Nevertheless, TSF stands to deploy in the area if necessary.

 


Pakistan: TSF supported the displaced populations

tsf_pakistan_jalala_reduiteAugust 13th, 2009 - The calling operations resumed on July 28th in North-West Pakistan. From July 28th to August 4th, more than 1650 calls were offered to the displaced populations in Nowshera, Swabi and Mardan districts.




Sri Lanka: Télécoms Sans Frontières is staying vigilant

map_srilankaSept. 7th, 2009 - TSF sent a representative to complete the visa process on site and assist UNHCR with ICT projects.

 

Unfortunately, TSF was not able to reach the camps and bring support to the IDPs due to administrative issues.
